The Northern Michigan women's wrestling team participated in the North Central College Invitational held in Naperville, Illinois, on Sunday. The team finished 31st out of 41 teams, scoring a total of 14.0 points with seven victories from six wrestlers.
Clarissa Wangen was notable for her performance in the 180 weight class, securing two wins by fall and earning 5.5 points. Ruby Joseph also competed at 180 and achieved a victory via fall during the preliminary round. Mickaela Keane added to the team's success in the same weight class with a win by tech fall.
In the 160 weight class, Sophia Bassino contributed 4.0 points through a win by decision and another by forfeit. Samantha Chaon earned 2.5 points at 138 with her victory by fall, while Zhivanna Magdaleno picked up a win by tech fall at 124 for an additional 2.0 points.
North Central College emerged as the host and winner of the meet with a score of 251.0 points, followed closely by Iowa with 148.5 points and McKendree with 148.0 points.
Looking ahead, Northern Michigan's Wildcats are set to compete again on January 11 when they will host Alma & Davenport for duals as they enter into the new year.
