Clifford Milam, a 26-year-old resident of Sault Ste. Marie, has entered a no contest plea to the charge of Attempt False Report or Threat of Terrorism as a Habitual Fourth Offender. This charge carries a potential sentence of up to 15 years in prison. Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced the plea, which includes an agreement for Milam to serve between 5 and 15 years in incarceration.

"Threats against prosecutors and judges undermine the very foundation of our justice system," stated Nessel. "I hope this case serves as a reminder to those considering threats of violence against public servants who serve our communities of the serious consequences of such dangerous behavior. My office will continue to hold accountable those who engage in this kind of conduct."

The charges stem from an incident in February 2024 when Milam made threats against an assistant prosecutor from the Chippewa County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and a judge from the 50th Circuit Court in Chippewa County who were involved in cases against him.

Milam's plea was entered before visiting Judge Brian Rahilly at the 50th Circuit Court. A date for sentencing has yet to be determined.
