Northern Michigan University (NMU) had a busy weekend in athletics from December 5 to December 7, with various teams competing and achieving notable results.

On Thursday, December 5, the women's basketball team secured a 70-48 victory over Purdue Northwest. This win marked the first time in 25 years that the team has opened the season with a 7-0 record. Alyssa Hill led the Wildcats, tying her season-high with 13 points. The men's basketball team also defeated Purdue Northwest with a score of 70-54. NMU held their opponents to just 33% shooting from the field and 27% from beyond the arc.

The men's swim and dive team participated in the Calvin College Invite on its first day, where seven athletes met NCAA D2-B Qualifying Standards. Leo Nolles won the 50 free and contributed to relay teams' successes. Daniel Lopez Aponte improved his qualifying time significantly in the 200 IM.

In women's swimming and diving at the same event, NMU achieved podium positions three times and hit NCAA D2-B Qualifying Standards in six events. Annika Geyer and Anika Wright earned NCAA cuts in the 500-yard free.

On Friday, December 6, NMU's wrestling team faced UW-Oshkosh but lost with a score of 30-17. Samantha Chaon and Sophia Bassino both secured individual wins for NMU.

The men's swim and dive team continued at Calvin College Invite Day Two by breaking three school records and securing seven NCAA D2-B cuts. Notable performances included Daniel Lopez Aponte's first-place finish in the 400 IM and Tobie Stiles' gold medal in diving.

In women's swimming on Day Two of the invite, eight different swimmers or events reached podium positions out of eight events swum, including seven NCAA provisional cuts.

The track and field team competed at the Early Bird Open where Eva Zonca placed eighth overall. In hockey, NMU lost to Ferris State with a score of 3-1 despite Aidyn Hutchinson scoring his second goal of the season.

On Saturday, December 7, during their Nordic Season Opener, Mathias Haugen led NMU's men's Nordic skiing team by finishing fourth while Henriette Nilssen claimed second place among women under-29 age group competitors.

The women's basketball team triumphed over Parkside with a close score of 72-67 after trailing by twelve points earlier in the game. Jacy Weisbrod scored an impressive total of twenty-two points for NMU.

Men's basketball also emerged victorious against Parkside by winning seventy-three to sixty-two thanks largely due to Gerald Gittens who scored all eighteen points within final minutes alongside three steals contributing towards victory efforts made possible through strategic plays such as thirteen-zero run turning tide favorably towards Wildcats favorably throughout match duration itself!

At Early Bird Open track meet held concurrently elsewhere across campus grounds saw Ellyse Wolfrath winning sixty-meter hurdles race whilst four-by-four hundred meter relay squad clinched another win further solidifying team's overall standing ultimately leading them third place finish collectively speaking based upon cumulative scores tallied up throughout course entire competition timeframe respectively without fail whatsoever either way around no matter what happens next moving forward into future endeavors awaiting ahead down line eventually someday soon enough hopefully sooner rather than later ideally speaking ideally optimistically so anyway fingers crossed everybody involved remains hopeful optimistic positive outlooks abound aplenty indeed always forevermore eternally lasting
