The Northern Michigan University (NMU) men's Nordic ski team began their 2024/25 season in Calumet, Michigan, participating in the Swedetown Season Opener. The event took place on Saturday.

"Lots of snow up here in Calumet but was freezing rain during so trails were a bit icy and tricky," said head coach Andy Keller following the 7.5km interval start race. "A fun race to break off the rust and get the season going."

Leading NMU's performance was Mathias Haugen, who completed the course with a time of 18:22.8, securing fourth place. Adrik Kraftson followed closely with a time of 18:31.4, finishing fifth, while Luke Fricker claimed sixth place with his time of 18:33.6.

Jonathan Clarke finished ninth with a time of 18:44.4, and Hendrik Peterson concluded NMU's top performers by placing 17th with a time of 19:25.5.

NMU will continue their competitive season at the Gitchi Gami Games on December 12 and 14 at the Birkie trail system in Cable, Wisconsin. The upcoming events include a freestyle sprint on Thursday and a classic sprint on Saturday.
