Northern Michigan wrestling team falls short against UW-Oshkosh Titans

The Northern Michigan wrestling team faced off against the UW-Oshkosh Titans on Friday night, resulting in a 30-17 defeat. The match began with Oshkosh taking an early lead at 103 due to a forfeit, setting the score at 5-0.

Audrey Swiderek of Oshkosh extended the lead by defeating Trinity Valentin (TF 10-0 2:20) at 110, adding four points and bringing the score to 9-0. Another forfeit at 117 increased Oshkosh's advantage to 14-0. Mya Delleree furthered this lead by overcoming Zhivanna Magdaleno (Fall 2:50) at 124, earning five points and pushing the score to 19-0.

At 131, Annesley Day of Oshkosh defeated Sharon Leon (Dec 10-3), contributing three points to a cumulative score of 22-1. Northern Michigan secured their first win at 138 when Samantha Chaon triumphed over Paige Haaf (Fall 3:34), closing the gap slightly to a score of 22-6.

Oshkosh responded at 145 with Nellie Stagg's victory over Priscilla Hartwell (Fall 2:22), adding five points and leading with a score of 27-6. Northern Michigan achieved another win at 160 as Sophia Bassino quickly defeated Leah Schwenker (Fall 1:23), narrowing the margin to a total of 27-11. Mickaela Keane's win by forfeit at 180 brought Northern Michigan closer with a score of 27-16.

In the final dual at weight class 207, Alivia Davey from Oshkosh won against Ozioma Ogu (Dec 8-4), securing three more points and concluding the match with a final score of Oshkosh leading by thirteen points, finishing at an overall tally of Oshkosh Titans' victory over Northern Michigan Wildcats with a final count of thirty to seventeen.

Looking ahead, Northern Michigan will participate in their last meet of the year during the North Central Open in Illinois on Sunday, December fifteenth.
