The NMU men's swim and dive team showcased a strong performance on the second day of the Calvin Invite in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Despite falling to third place with 964.5 points behind Grand Valley State University and Calvin University, the team achieved significant milestones.
During the event, NMU broke three school records and secured seven NCAA Division II B cuts. The team also claimed two first-place finishes and six podium positions.
The 200 medley relay team, comprising Ian Rocheleau, Wyatt Dickman, William LaCount, and Leo Nolles, set a new school record with a time of 1:27.38. Additionally, LaCount established a new record in the 50 butterfly during the first leg of the 100 fly with a time of 21.81. Dickman set another record in the 100 breaststroke with his time of 53.81.
Daniel Lopez Aponte won first place in the 400 IM with an NCAA provisional time of 3:53.43. Tobie Stiles earned an NCAA cut and took gold in the 3-meter diving event with a score of 503.40.
The NMU Wildcats will conclude their participation at the Calvin Invite tomorrow, starting with preliminaries at 10 a.m., followed by finals at 6 p.m.
