The Northern Michigan University hockey team faced a challenging match against the Augustana Vikings, resulting in a 4-1 loss. The game took place on the road as part of their Thanksgiving schedule.

Despite being down 2-0 after the first period, NMU's Jakob Peterson managed to score his first collegiate goal during the second period. His effort narrowed the gap to 2-1 before Augustana extended their lead with two more goals in the third period. These goals came from advantageous plays, including a bounce and a fortunate kick that landed perfectly for the Vikings.

Peterson, hailing from Marquette and serving as an alternate captain, achieved his milestone goal with an impressive end-to-end rush. This was NMU's only goal of the game.

The Vikings saw contributions from ten different players, with Bischoff, Matsui, Ruikka each scoring their second goals of the season and Falk adding his first.

NMU's goaltender Ryan Ouellette was replaced by Ethan Barwick midway through the third period after making 22 saves. Barwick added four more saves in relief.

Faceoffs were nearly even between both teams, but Billy Renfrew excelled for NMU by winning 11 out of 15 draws. The Wildcats also successfully killed off all three penalties they faced and have maintained this streak for three consecutive games without conceding a powerplay goal.

Looking ahead, NMU aims to even out their performance against Augustana in their next game at Midco Arena. The Vikings have only achieved one weekend sweep this season so far.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7:07 PM ET with coverage available on Midco Sports Plus and radio broadcast on 100.3 The Point.
