Matt Majkrzak, head coach of the Northern Michigan men's basketball team, announced the signing of seven new players to National Letters of Intent on National Signing Day 2024. The recruits, Nathan Fife, Pryce Gregoire, Keller Hanson, Brooks Hinson, Andrew Murphy, Trevor Polite, and Ross Robertson are set to join the Wildcats as freshmen for the 2025-26 season.

Majkrzak emphasized the team's focus on recruiting high school athletes rather than relying on transfer portals. "While most of the country has shifted their focus to the portal," he stated, "we have doubled down on our commitment to recruiting high school student-athletes." He added that this group could become one of the best recruiting classes in the nation due to their talent and potential.

Nathan Fife from Sanderson High School in North Carolina led his team to a conference championship and was named All-Conference. Majkrzak described him as "an elite scorer and passer whose game translates perfectly to college basketball."

Pryce Gregoire comes from De Pere High School in Wisconsin with a state championship under his belt. According to Majkrzak, "Pryce is a winner" who understands how to play effectively without needing constant ball possession.

Keller Hanson from Sauk Rapids-Rice High School in Minnesota averaged 17.4 points per game last year. Majkrzak praised him as "a dead-eye three-point shooter" with growing skills beyond shooting.

Brooks Hinson led Marshfield High School in Wisconsin with an impressive record and accolades including Player of the Year honors. Majkrzak highlighted his leadership qualities: "Brooks is the epitome of an NMU point guard."

Andrew Murphy from Verona High School in Wisconsin averaged 23 points per game last season. Majkrzak noted his versatility: "Drew is a perfect pick-and-pop forward that can score in a bunch of ways."

Ross Robertson holds South Beloit High School's all-time scoring record in Illinois with over 2,000 career points. Described by Majkrzak as versatile and intense: "Ross is a rebounding machine that competes with burning intensity."

Trevor Polite from Homestead High School in Wisconsin averaged double figures across multiple categories last season. Majkrzak commended his intelligence on court: "His biggest strength is his IQ...he can do everything on the offensive side."

These new additions reflect Northern Michigan's strategy focusing on building talent through high school recruitment rather than transfers.
