Track & Field starts outdoor season; Nordic skiing ends; basketball players receive honors

The weekend marked the start of the outdoor season for the track and field team in Normal, Illinois, at the Redbird Challenge hosted by Illinois State. Ahna Larson achieved first place in the 400m hurdles for the second time in her career. Natalie Pisoke followed with a second-place finish in the same event. Baux Truckey also secured a second-place position in the 400m, while Madi Szymanski earned bronze in the 1500m. Emma Sweeney completed third in the 3000m steeplechase.

In men's Nordic skiing, 'Cats concluded their 2023/24 season with a 40km mass start from the SuperTour Finals on March 26, 2024. Luke Fricker and Kristoffer Karsrud were top performers among their teammates, placing 12th and 13th collegiately. Jonathan Clarke competed in the Junior 20km category and finished fourth collegiately.

The women's Nordic ski team also wrapped up their season with a strong performance at the SuperTour Finals on March 26, 2024. Pearl Harvey finished fourth collegiately, followed closely by Kolibri Drobish and Victoria Dybwad who placed fifth and sixth respectively.

In women's golf, Maya Hunter was recognized as GLIAC Golfer of the Week on March 27, 2024, due to her performance during the Klash in Kentucky. Hunter led her team to a second-place finish with her individual score securing second place as well. She shot rounds of 78 and 74 resulting in a weekend score of +8 (152).

Men's basketball saw Max Weisbrod earning accolades being named to both Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) All-Midwest Region First Team and National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District First Team on March 25, 2024. Dylan Kuehl joined him with recognition on NABC All-District Second Team on that same day. Additionally, Weisbrod along with Carson Smith and Sam Privet received CSC Academic All-District honors on March 27, 2024.

In women's basketball news, Makaylee Kuhn was awarded a spot on Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) All-Midwest Region Second Team on March 25, 2024. Kuhn along with Ana Rhude, Sarah Newcomer, and CJ Romero received College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors two days later.
