Busy week ahead for NMU athletics with multiple competitions across sports

Northern Michigan University (NMU) is gearing up for a busy week in athletics, with several teams competing in key events. The NMU Women's Lacrosse team is set to play three games in Missouri during spring break, following recent wins at home. They will face Rockhurst on Monday, William Jewell on Wednesday, and Missouri Western State on Friday.

The Men's and Women's Alpine Ski teams are heading to Lake Placid, New York, for the USCSA National Championships after successful performances at the regional level. The event spans five days, starting Tuesday.

The Men's and Women's Golf teams begin their spring season this week at the Sea Trails Invitational in Sunset Beach, North Carolina. Both teams had notable performances last fall, including a record-breaking round by Russel Sprecher.

In basketball news, the NMU Women's Basketball team concluded its regular season and will host Wayne State in the first round of the GLIAC playoffs on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the Men's Basketball team secured the GLIAC regular-season title and will play Purdue Northwest at home in their playoff opener.

The Nordic Ski teams recently performed well at the NCAA Central Regional Skiing Championships and are now sending six athletes to compete in the NCAA Skiing Championships starting Thursday.

The Women's Wrestling team prepares for the National Collegiate Championship after a strong showing at regionals. Three Wildcats will represent NMU this weekend.

Men's Ice Hockey wrapped up its regular season with a sweep against Bowling Green. They travel to Mankato for their first-round CCHA playoff series beginning Friday.

Finally, Ellyse Wolfrath from Women's Track and Field has been selected for the NCAA Championship field in the 60m hurdles after an impressive indoor season performance.
