Northern Michigan volleyball players earn All-GLIAC honors

Jacqueline Smith, Meghan Meyer, and Liesl Haugen from the Northern Michigan volleyball team have been honored with All-GLIAC accolades. The announcement was made by the league on Thursday.

Jacqueline Smith, a redshirt junior hailing from Saint Germain, Wisconsin, has achieved First Team All-GLIAC recognition for the fourth consecutive season. This year, she recorded an average of 3.75 kills per set, ranking second in the conference. Throughout her 23 matches played this season, Smith amassed a total of 311 kills. She also managed to achieve double-digit kills in 18 games, including a streak of 14 matches towards the end of the season.

Meghan Meyer, another redshirt junior but from Ada, Michigan, secured a spot on the All-GLIAC Second Team for the second time while previously being named to the First Team twice during her tenure at NMU. This season saw Meyer achieve a .352 attack percentage, placing her third among league competitors. She registered 264 kills as well as blocked 21 balls in GLIAC play, tying for third place.

Liesl Haugen, a freshman originating from Maple Grove, Minnesota, earned All-GLIAC Honorable Mention recognition as she finished with 299 digs in conference play while serving as the Green and Gold libero. Her performance included an average of 5.07 digs per set and securing second place within GLIAC rankings. Additionally, Haugen contributed with 16 service aces against league opponents and completed the season with totals of 412 digs and 419 receptions.
