Wright leads strong showing on day two at GLIAC Championships

Day two of the GLIAC Championships concluded in Holland, Michigan, with notable performances from several athletes. Freshman Anika Wright secured a silver medal in the 400 Yard IM, achieving a DII B-Cut time of 4:22.86 and earning her team 17 points. Evie DeCarlo also earned a B-Cut and contributed nine points with her time of 4:29.15.

The 400 Yard Medley Relay team, consisting of Camilla Carbone, Zoe DeKievit, Meritxell Font Cantarero, and Carlotta Santi, claimed silver with a DII B-Cut time of 3:44.01, adding 34 points to their team's score.

Meritxell Font Cantarero earned bronze in the 100 Yard Butterfly with a DII B-Cut time of 55.55, contributing 16 points to her club's total. Zoe DeKievit also achieved a B-Cut in the same event with a time of 55.97 and added 14 points.

In the 200 Yard Freestyle, Carlotta Santi narrowly missed the podium but achieved a DII B-Cut time of 1:49.64 and earned her team another 15 points.

Abbie Harned finished fourth in the 3-Meter Diving event with a score of 384.05, securing an additional 15 points for her team.

Overall, the 'Cats remain in third place after day two with a total score of 323.5 points, trailing behind Grand Valley State (499) and Wayne State (369).

The competition continues tomorrow at 10 a.m., featuring events such as the 500 free, 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, and 800 free relay.
