Northern Michigan University volleyball triumphs over Saginaw Valley State in straight sets

The Northern Michigan University (NMU) Volleyball team secured a decisive victory against Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU) in their penultimate regular season home game. The Wildcats won in straight sets with scores of 25-15, 25-20, and 25-14.

Jacqueline Smith led the team with ten kills, supported by Lauren Van Remortel who assisted on 31 kills. Liesl Haugen contributed significantly with 22 digs.

In the first set, NMU started strong, quickly taking a lead of 7-2. With solid performances from players like Angelina Negron and Evynn Layshock, the Wildcats maintained their advantage and closed the set at 25-15.

The second set saw SVSU making some initial gains but NMU responded effectively. Helen Beiring and Meghan Meyer executed key plays to help secure a win at 25-20 after overcoming several long rallies.

The third set began with both teams exchanging points due to faults. However, NMU regained control through strategic plays by Beiring and Van Remortel, eventually winning the set at 25-14.

NMU will face Wayne State University next at Vandament Arena on November 4 for their final regular season game.
