The Northern Michigan track and field team concluded their penultimate regular season meet on Friday night. The athletes were divided between two locations in Illinois, with Madi Szymanski competing in Joliet and four other team members participating in Naperville.
At the Carius-Gregory Invitational in Naperville, Crystal Walker secured a victory in the long jump with a distance of 5.75 meters. Ellyse Wolfrath recorded the fastest qualifying time in the 100-meter hurdles at 13.94 seconds but did not compete in the final race. In the 400-meter hurdles, Ahna Larson and Natalie Pisoke achieved personal records, finishing second and third with times of 1:03.07 and 1:03.99, respectively.
Meanwhile, at the Fighting Chance Invite in Joliet, Madi Szymanski ran late into Friday night, completing her 5K race in 12th place with a time of 17:36.59.
The Wildcats will continue to compete on Saturday during Day 2 of the Fighting Chance Invite as they seek one last opportunity to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
