Four members of the Northern Michigan University (NMU) women's swimming and diving team have been recognized with College Sports Communicators (CSC) All-District honors. The announcement was made on Tuesday, highlighting the achievements of Camilla Carbone, Mia Strazny, Abbie Harned, and Zoe DeKievit.
Camilla Carbone, a marketing major with a 3.975 GPA, has earned First-Team All-American honors in the 100 backstroke and 200 medley relay. She also received Second-Team All-American honors in the 400 medley relay at this year's NCAA Championships. Additionally, she was named GLIAC Swimmer of the Week for her performance in individual NCAA qualifying times in both the 200 and 100 backstroke events.
Mia Strazny, studying biology concentrated physiology/pre-med with a perfect 4.0 GPA, was an alternate for the 200 backstroke at this year's NCAA Championships. She achieved podium finishes in several events at this year's GLIAC Championships.
Abbie Harned is pursuing nursing with a GPA of 3.69. As an invited diver to this year's NCAA Championships, she secured fourth place finishes in both the one-meter and three-meter dives during the regular season.
Zoe DeKievit holds a perfect GPA of 4.0 while majoring in secondary education/health and fitness education. She earned First-team All-American honors in the 200 medley relay and Second-team All-American honors in the 400 medley relay at this year's NCAA Championship.
The CSC Academic All-District® Women's Swimming & Diving teams recognize top student-athletes for their combined performances academically and athletically across four divisions: NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA. Honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot.
Finalists will be announced on April 23, 2024. The program is partially financially supported by various national governance structures to assist CSC with handling awards fulfillment aspects for Divisions II and III as well as NAIA programs.
