Wildcats aim for NCAA qualification at Last Chance Meet

The women's swim and dive team from Marquette, Michigan, is set to participate in the Last Chance Meet at North Central College on February 17, 2024. This event offers selected swimmers an opportunity to qualify for the upcoming NCAA Championships.

The Wildcats are currently ranked eighth nationally in both championship and dual categories. The team's social media accounts, @NMUSwimDiveTeam and @NMU_Wildcats on X (formerly known as Twitter), will provide updates during the meet.

In their previous competition at the GLIAC Championships, the team secured third place overall with three gold medals. Camilla Carbone, Zoe DeKievit, Meritxell Font Cantarero, and Becca Burrows won first place in the 200-yard medley relay. Individually, Carbone excelled in the 100-yard backstroke while DeKievit claimed victory in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Several swimmers have achieved NCAA B cuts across various events: Anika Wright (500 Free, 1000 Free, 1650 Free, 400 IM), Meritxell Font Cantarero (100 Fly, 200 Fly, 500 Free), Camilla Carbone (100 Back, 200 Back), Carlotta Santi (100 Free, 200 Free, 500 Free, 1000 Free), Becca Burrows (50 free, 100 Free), Annika Geyer (500 Free, 1000 Free, 1650 Free), Mia Strazny (100 Free, 200 Back), Zoe DeKievit (100 Breast, 200 Breast, 100 Fly), Txell Cantarero (500 Free, 100 Fly, 200 Fly), Evie Decarlo (100 Breast, 200 Breast ,200 IM ,400 IM). The team has also qualified for events such as the "200 Medley Relay" and "800 Free Relay."
