The Northern Michigan University women's soccer team secured a 3-0 victory against the Purdue Northwest Pride, ensuring home-field advantage for the rest of the playoffs. The match took place in Marquette, Michigan.
Molly Pistorius opened the scoring just 25 seconds into the game, giving NMU an early lead. The Wildcats dominated the first half, outshooting their opponents 11-0 with five shots on target.
In the second half, Pistorius scored again, followed by a goal from Angelina Perritano. Goalkeeper Jillian Thompson made two saves to achieve her 13th shutout of the season.
The Wildcats' overall record now stands at 14-1-4 and they remain undefeated at home with a 7-0-3 record. Meanwhile, Purdue Northwest concluded their season with a record of 2-13-3.
Coach Matt Granstrand praised his players: "Molly Pistorius scored twice, her third multi-goal game of the season and GLIAC leading 12th goal."
Angelina Perritano contributed to NMU's win by scoring her third goal of the evening. Sami Brown and Caitlyn Trombley each provided assists during the match.
Jillian Thompson continues to climb up NMU's record books with her performance this season. The Wildcats registered six corner kicks compared to two by Purdue Northwest. A red card was issued to PNW in the final minutes of play.
Looking ahead, NMU will host Ferris State Bulldogs on November 10 as part of the GLIAC playoffs.
