The NMU women's lacrosse team delivered a commanding performance on senior day, securing a 21-12 victory against the Golden Bears. The Wildcats were led by standout performances from senior Minnie Bittell, senior Kaitlyn Bridger, and freshman Josie Lakosky.
Minnie Bittell matched her career-high in single-game points with nine, including five goals and four assists. She also set a personal best with six ground balls. "Bittell has now registered five or more points in 11 of the 14 games," noted the team's report.
Josie Lakosky achieved career-highs with six goals and seven points, leading all players in goals scored. Kaitlyn Bridger also matched her career high by scoring five times.
Laine Stanton contributed to the team's success with career highs in goals (four), assists (one), points (five), and ground balls (three). The team set season records for shots (53), shots on goal (43), and ground balls (28).
The Wildcats never trailed during the game and improved their overall record to 11-3, while their GLIAC play stands at 2-1. Meanwhile, the Golden Bears fell to 6-8 overall and 1-2 in conference competition.
NMU's offensive dominance was evident throughout the match. They opened strong with seniors making early impacts on the scoreboard. A notable moment included Lakosky forcing a turnover that led to Bittell scoring just before the first quarter ended.
In subsequent quarters, NMU maintained control by outshooting their opponents significantly and extending their lead steadily until concluding with a decisive win.
Looking ahead, NMU will finish their regular season with three consecutive away games starting against Davenport on April 19th.
