With the GLIAC Championships approaching on October 21, the Wildcat Cross Country team is set for a final preparatory race this weekend. The team will compete at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Jenny Ryan, speaking about the upcoming race, stated, "This will be one more chance to race and to finalize our conference team. It will be a good experience to race for the ones that are right on that border to tighten and sharpen up."
The Wildcats have achieved their first regional ranking of the season, placing No. 10 in the Midwest according to the latest USTFCCCA poll.
In their previous outing at the Lewis Crossover, a significant Division II meet, nine Northern Michigan University runners set personal records. The team finished 15th out of 33 teams. Sophomore Madi Szymanski notably improved her personal best by 47 seconds, finishing with a time of 21:36.3 and securing 13th place among 317 runners. Ava Maginity also set a new personal record with a time of 22:55.6, placing her in 88th position. Skylar Grubb finished in 124th place with another personal best time of 23:17.1.
Other notable performances included Gianna Hoving (23:26.0), Dani VanLente (23:28.1 - PR), Emma Moore (23:30.1 - PR), Lamar Gordon (23:31.4 - PR), and Emma Sweeney (23:54.6 - PR). Beverly Harper and Elliott Smith also achieved personal records.
