Northern Michigan men's golf team finishes sixth at Lewis Spring Flyer Invite

The Northern Michigan University Men's golf team concluded its regular season at the Lewis Spring Flyer Invite, finishing sixth out of eight teams. The tournament took place in Romeoville, Illinois, and saw the team score a total of 622 over two days (307 on day one and 315 on day two).

Eric Yun led the Wildcats with a consistent performance, placing 13th individually with scores of 77 each day for a total of 154. Walter Ylitalo followed closely behind, tying for 17th place with scores of 75 and 81, totaling 156. Russel Sprecher finished just one stroke behind Ylitalo, tying for 21st place with rounds of 76 and 81.

Tyler Annala and Art Ylitalo both scored a total of 158 to tie for the team's fourth and fifth positions at T25. Joe Luke competed as an individual and completed his rounds in the 47th position with scores of 93 and 91.

The Wildcats performed notably well on par-5 holes, ranking second only to Drury University with an average score of 5.13. Drury won the event overall with a score of +6 and a total stroke count of 582.

Looking ahead, the Wildcats will participate in the GLIAC Championship in Augusta, Michigan next week. The tournament is scheduled from April 12 to April 14 at Stoatin Brae Golf Club.
