FOIA Request Sent to Dekalb County Regarding Vendor Payments on September 26, 2024

FOIA Request to Dekalb County Regarding Vendor Payments from January to September 2024.

On September 26, 2024, we at DeKalb Times sent a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) to Dekalb County. The request was for records of all payments made to vendors within the county from January 1, 2024, through September 26, 2024.

The specific fields requested in the records include the vendor name, transaction date, transaction description, and amount. We asked for these records preferably in an electronic format for ease of analysis and reporting.

As a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, access to public records is essential for us at DeKalb Times. This information allows us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.

In light of our role in disseminating information to the public, we also requested a fee waiver as a media professional. We believe that this would enable us to continue serving our community with relevant and timely information regarding local government activities.

We are currently awaiting a response from Dekalb County and will update our readers once we receive further information.
