A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to Dekalb County, Illinois, regarding vendor payments on September 26, 2024.
As a part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs at DeKalb Times, we requested specific records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140. We asked for these records in an electronic format for ease of analysis and reporting.
The request specifically asked for a list of all payments made to vendors from January 1, 2024, through September 26, 2024. The details requested include the name of the vendor, the date of the transaction, a description of the transaction, and the amount paid.
At DeKalb Times, we believe that access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. As members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we requested a fee waiver as media professionals.
