The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) will host a virtual meeting on Monday, Oct. 14, from 9:30 a.m. to noon, focusing on the list of prescription drugs covered under Michigan’s Medicaid health plans, known as the Medicaid Health Plan Common Formulary.
This annual meeting aims to provide a platform for the public, stakeholders, and interested parties to comment on the prescription list. It supplements the quarterly written public comment periods.
The meeting will be held via Zoom using the password 7W4ZkU. Participants can also join by phone by dialing 636-651-3128 and entering access code 287658. Attendees are asked to RSVP by emailing KrepsD@michigan.gov by Wednesday, Oct. 9.
MDHHS established the common formulary in 2016 to streamline drug coverage policies for Medicaid and Healthy Michigan Plan beneficiaries and providers. State law and the Medicaid health plan contract require this formulary to ensure uniformity across all contracted plans.
Medicaid health plans may offer less restrictive coverage than that in the common formulary for products not listed on the Michigan Preferred Drug List, which is a subset of drugs included in the common formulary.
Since Oct. 1, 2020, coverage for products has been aligned with the Michigan Preferred Drug List, including any prior authorization and step therapy requirements.
More information about the common formulary and the list of covered prescription drugs can be found at Michigan.gov/MCOpharmacy.
For special services such as ASL interpreters or language translation services, contact Donna Kreps via email at krepsd@michigan.gov no later than 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4.
Those unable to attend can submit questions or comments to MDHHSCommonFormulary@michigan.gov no later than Wednesday, Oct. 9.
