Northern Michigan University (NMU) men's soccer team aims to extend its winning streak as it prepares to face Lewis University and Thomas More on home ground. The Wildcats are coming off their first-ever back-to-back wins to start a season.

Lewis University, ranked fourth nationally and a Final Four participant last season, poses the biggest challenge for NMU so far. The Wildcats also seek to avenge last fall's defeat against Thomas More in their only previous encounter.

The Wildcats will play against the Flyers on Thursday, September 12, at 2 p.m., followed by a match against the Saints on Saturday, September 14, at noon.

Fans can follow @NMU_Mens_Soccer on X (formerly known as Twitter) for updates during the games.

Alex Fatovic commented on the team's morale: "The spirit, the energy, the fight is there… Right now, it's all about keeping the vibe high and making sure that they're ready to play on Thursday."

Key highlights for NMU include:

- A historic 2-0 start to the season.

- Goalkeeper Nils Cedergren achieving consecutive shutouts in his first two games.

- Contributions from captain Tommaso Lami and freshmen Teun Van Gansewinkel and Justin Alfaro.

- Leading the GLIAC in goals scored (3) and shots (31), with Lami leading in shots (8) and shots on goal (5).

Lewis University's recent performance includes a record of 13-4-6 overall last season and an appearance in the NCAA tournament's Final Four. They were selected to win the GLVC Conference Title but have dropped to 25th in national rankings after a loss and a draw last weekend. Key players include senior goalkeeper Sebastian Doppelhofer and fifth-year player Justin Darlage.

Thomas More University finished last season with a 10-7-3 record. They were picked to finish fourth in the G-MAC this season. Returning players include Julen van Egmond and Charlie Allan. The Saints will compete against Roosevelt University before facing NMU.
