The Alcohol, Drug Addiction, Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) Board of Tuscarawas and Carroll Counties and OhioGuidestone hosted an open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, August 22, to mark the completion of Stillwater Crossing. This men’s substance use residential treatment center is located at 700 Dudgeon Way, Dennison.

Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, attendees toured the facility, learned about its services, and enjoyed light refreshments until the event concluded at 5 pm. Stillwater Crossing is the first non-profit facility of its kind in Tuscarawas and Carroll Counties. It aims to provide evidence-based treatment services to help local men transition from addiction to recovery.

The 7,900-square-foot building was made possible through a funding partnership involving the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, ARPA funding awarded by the Tuscarawas County Commissioners, local ADAMHS funds, and donations from community partners. The $2.7 million facility can serve up to 16 men at a time. Upon completing the residential treatment program, individuals will transition to local services and supports to maintain their progress.

Pam Trimmer, Vice President of Operations at OhioGuidestone, expressed gratitude for the support received: “We would like to thank the ADAMHS Board of Tuscarawas and Carroll Counties and the Ohio Dept. of Mental Health and Addiction Services for their support of this much-needed project. The goal of OhioGuidestone within this project is to ensure that we are providing high-quality person-centered substance use services to those living in our communities.”

Natalie Bollon, Executive Director at the ADAMHS Board, highlighted the long-term effort behind this initiative: “This is an effort that has taken us over a decade. To have the end in sight and knowing that the hard work will mean a local treatment option for men is incredible.” She also acknowledged key contributors including Mike Dotts, Special Projects Manager at ADAMHS; Pam Trimmer; and Dennison Mayor Greg DiDonato.

Pending state certification completion, Stillwater Crossing is scheduled to open in September.
