U.S. Senate candidate in Michigan, Mike Rogers, stated that the United States faces "grave danger" as illegal migrants enter the country under the current administration's border policy. The Rogers campaign made this statement to the Great Lakes Wire in response to a public safety announcement by the Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania Police Department on July 30.

"The day Joe Biden named Kamala Harris as his ‘Border Czar' the entire nation was put in grave danger as millions of illegal immigrants have flooded across the border and our communities are terrorized by fentanyl," said Rogers. "Harris and Elissa Slotkin are fully complicit in aiding and abetting the dangerous open border that created one of the greatest national security threats facing America."

On July 26, Police Chief Derek Koch of the Elizabethtown Police in Pennsylvania announced that the department would respond to all reports of criminal activity, especially those related to drug cartels in the area.

In March 2023, four kilograms of fentanyl were seized from a vehicle in Paw Paw, Michigan. According to WoodTV news, this amount is enough to kill "2.5 million people." The individual in possession was affiliated with the Mexican Sinaloa cartel.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), U.S. Border Patrol has arrested 14,000 individuals with existing criminal convictions illegally crossing into the United States to date in fiscal year 2024.

Rogers represented Michigan in Congress from 2001-2015. According to his website, he served as Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee and is currently running for election to the U.S. Senate in Michigan.
