Northern Michigan Football Picked 7th in GLIAC Preseason Poll

MARQUETTE, Mich. - Under second-year head coach Shane Richardson, the Northern Michigan football team has been picked to finish seventh out of eight teams in the 2024 GLIAC Preseason Poll, announced by the league at Media Day on Thursday.

Two of the top programs in the country are close at the top of the poll, with Ferris State edging Grand Valley State by two points. Davenport sits at third with one first-place vote.

2024 GLIAC Football Preseason Poll:

1. Ferris State - 46 (4)

2. Grand Valley State - 44 (3)

3. Davenport - 38 (1)

4. Saginaw Valley State - 30

5. Michigan Tech - 26

6. Wayne State - 20

7. Northern Michigan - 13

8. Roosevelt - 7

The Wildcats are less than one month away from opening kickoff, where they will host the Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs on August 29th at 6 p.m. for Thursday Night Football in the Superior Dome.

The non-conference stretch includes two road games, starting with a first-ever trip to Kentucky Wesleyan and the Bluegrass State on Thursday, September 5. NMU will visit UW-La Crosse on September 14 before returning home for Homecoming on September 21 against Alma.

The seven-game GLIAC slate will open up at home on October 5 vs. Saginaw Valley State.
