The Michigan Health & Hospital Association (MHA) issued a statement at 11 a.m. on June 19 regarding a global IT issue that occurred overnight with a major technology vendor, now affecting multiple sectors, including healthcare.

According to the MHA, the issue was reportedly caused by a software update error and is not believed to be a cybersecurity incident. The association acknowledged that some Michigan hospitals and health systems are impacted but could not confirm which facilities or the extent of the impact.

The MHA advises patients to check their hospital or healthcare provider’s website, social media pages, patient portal, or use appropriate phone contact information to determine if their scheduled care or appointments are affected.

Members with questions may contact the MHA.
