The Northern Michigan Men's Basketball team has received academic honors for the fifth consecutive season under Coach Matt Majkrzak. The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced the recipients of the 2023-24 NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards and NABC Honors Court, recognizing exceptional academic achievements by men's college basketball teams and student-athletes.

Brian Parzych (Business), Carson Smith (Financial Management), Connor McCance (Accounting), Dylan Kuehl (Construction Management), Jackson Dudek (Financial Management), and Sam Privet (Construction Management) earned positions on the NABC Honors Court for the Wildcats.

The NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards acknowledge men's basketball programs that completed the 2023-24 academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The NABC Honors Court includes junior, senior, and graduate student men's basketball players who finished the 2023-24 year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.

"The NABC is proud to celebrate these accomplished student-athletes, along with the coaches and staff who champion success in the classroom," said NABC Executive Director Craig Robinson. "Education is a core value of the NABC, and the teams and athletes who earned these awards are proof that academic achievement remains a priority across every level of our sport."

Over 2,100 players earned spots on the NABC Honors Court, and over 360 programs received NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards for 2023-24.

In addition to their academic success, NMU won the GLIAC regular season title in 2023-24 and hosted the conference tournament. The team secured a spot in the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year. Majkrzak was named GLIAC Coach of the Year while Max Weisbrod earned Player of the Year honors. Kuehl was selected for both the All-GLIAC First Team and All-Defensive Team.
