Michigan issues recall for Diamond Shruumz chocolate bars due to severe illnesses

LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) is alerting Michigan residents that Prophet Premium Blends, in coordination with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), has issued a recall of all Diamond Shruumz-brand products. MDHHS, FDA, and the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development are urging Michigan residents to stop eating, selling, or serving any flavor of Diamond Shruumz-brand Microdosing Chocolate Bars, Infused Cones, or Micro-Dose and Macro-Dose gummies, and instead throw them away.

For a refund, consumers can contact Prophet Premium Blends by phone at 209-314-0881 or by email at info@diamondshruumz.com with their order number.

Retailers and wholesalers should discontinue distribution, quarantine the product immediately, and contact their sales representative to initiate the return of Diamond Shruumz-brand products. Prophet Premium Blends will issue refunds to retailers and wholesalers.

Due to these products being marketed as candy, parents and caregivers should consider discussing this information with individuals under the age of 18. People in multiple states have become ill after eating these products, reporting a variety of severe symptoms. A total of 48 cases have been reported in 24 states including Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nevada (listed twice), New Jersey, New York, North Carolina (listed twice), Ohio (not listed), Oklahoma (not listed), Pennsylvania (not listed), South Carolina (not listed), South Dakota (not listed) and Tennessee. There are no confirmed cases in Michigan as of this date.

There have been 27 hospitalizations. No deaths have been reported. People who became ill from eating Diamond Shruumz-brand products reported a variety of severe symptoms including seizures; central nervous system depression including loss of consciousness; confusion; sleepiness; agitation; abnormal heart rates; hyper/hypotension; nausea; and vomiting.

Those who experience adverse health effects after consuming these products should seek medical treatment and/or call the Poison Help Line at 800-222-1222. To report symptoms or ask questions or seek additional information contact MDHHS at 844-464-7327 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., or at MDHHS-eht@michigan.gov which is monitored daily Monday through Friday.
