Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel has announced the appointment of Stephen E. Durance as the new Midland County Public Administrator. Nessel expressed her confidence in Durance, stating, “I am confident Midland County will be well served by Stephen, and congratulate him on his appointment as a County Administrator.”
State Public Administrator Randi M. Merchant also welcomed Durance to the team, highlighting the importance of having a talented pool of attorneys serving as county public administrators across the state. Merchant stated, “The Department is fortunate to have a talented and passionate pool of attorneys that serve as county public administrators across the State, and I am pleased to welcome County Public Administrator Durance as the newest member of that team.”
Durance, a graduate of Midland High School, Valparaiso University, and the University of Detroit-Mercy Law School, has a background in probate matters and has been practicing law since 1990. He currently practices at Stephen E. Durance, P.C., alongside his son, Peter, focusing on domestic law, probate administration, and probate litigation.
Durance was officially sworn in on April 3rd, marking the beginning of his tenure as the Midland County Public Administrator.
