Police have identified the woman and boy who died on Saturday as Teresa Osborne, 51, and her son Kaiden Osborne, 14.
Officers, the Battle Creek Fire Department, and EMS responded to a call at 2:35 p.m. Saturday at a home in the area of South Minges Road. The two were found unresponsive. First responders attempted life-saving measures, however Teresa and Kaiden died at the scene.
Police said it does not appear that a violent act caused their deaths. Police do not believe anyone else was involved, based on the investigation so far. Detectives are not looking for any suspects at this time.
Kaiden Osborne was a Lakeview High School student. Police have communicated with the school district, and the Calhoun County Critical Incident and Stress Management Team is activated. Responders have been on the school campus today, and students can communicate with their Student Services Center to get any social and emotional support they need.
Additional information is pending the results of the medical examiner’s report.
Police request the community’s respect and kindness for the Osbornes’ family and friends as they work through this tragic loss.
