After a large storm that hit the area on Monday, August 29, the City of Taylor is recommending that residents take note of the following items:
- (EXTENDED) The Department of Public Works will accept storm-related debris (tree branches, bushes, etc.) at the City's transfer station through Saturday, September 10. This period has been extended due to a reassessment of the storm damage community wide. Residents must show identification to participate in this drop off. The station is located at 16300 Racho Road, south of Eureka. It is open from 8 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays (closed Sundays). The station is closed on Labor Day, Monday, September 5.
- If you are reporting storm damage to the City, please use the form center (not the iCare Taylor app). The form will go directly to our Customer Service Center and then be forwarded to a specific department for the issue to be solved. The Form Center has taken the place of the iCare Taylor app.
- DPW crews have been working around the clock since yesterday’s storm. They will prioritize by tree/large limb removal while running sections assisting residents by rubbish routes mirroring snow removal.
- Please be patient. Storm damage will take at least a few days to alleviate. When driving, treat any stop light outage as a four-way stop.
- IMPORTANT: Due to current phone service interruptions, DTE asks that customers report outages, check their status and reported downed wires at outage.dteenergy.com.
- Downed power lines may be hidden by debris, so be careful as you head outside.
- Stay at least a bus length (20 feet) away from downed power lines and don’t touch anything they may be in contact with – always consider them live and dangerous.
- Everyone should also heed the warning of yellow caution tape, which indicates there is a downed power line in the area. DO NOT CROSS YELLOW CAUTION TAPE.
- Never use a portable generator inside a home or business. It emits carbon monoxide, which can be deadly. Keep it outside, away from windows and doors.
