BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — City crews will continue replacing broken water valves, which will require temporary water shutoffs and a road closure beginning Friday, Aug. 12.
This work will require temporary water shutoffs from 10 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. on Capital Avenue S.W., between Woodland Drive and Hiawatha Drive.
City neighbors in this area should be prepared to be without water and for a potential boil water advisory when service returns. Additional information will be made available to the media, and through the city’s website and social media, should it become necessary.
Door hangers will be distributed to the homes affected.
During this work, Capital Avenue S.W., between Columbia Avenue W. and Minges Road W., will be closed and emergency vehicles will not have access from Aug. 12 at 9 p.m. through Aug. 13 at 6:30 p.m. A detour will be in place. A map of the detour is attached to this release.
Motorist are advised to avoid this area and follow all posted detour signs.
Due to this road closure, Transit route 4S, SW Capital bus, will detour on Saturday, Aug. 13.
Heading outbound the 4S bus will turn left on Columbia Avenue, right on Riverside Drive, right on Minges Road, and left on S.W. Capital to resume regular route. During this temporary detour, the following outbound bus stops will not be serviced. Passengers who normally use these stops should plan to use the bus stop(s) located at Iroquois Avenue or Hamilton Lane.

Heading inbound the 4S bus will turn right on Minges Road, left on Riverside Drive, left on Columbia Avenue, and right on SW Capital to resume regular route. Passengers who normally use these stops should plan to use the bus stop(s) located at Minges Road or the bus stop located near Long John Silver's.
