Convention of States Action Michigan has issued the following press release:

As of early April 2022, Michigan has gathered more than 85,000 petition signers calling on our state legislators to pass Resolution HJR-E calling for a Convention of States. Over 5 million people have signed the petition nationally.

Americans, both Democrat and Republican, believe that the country is headed in the wrong direction. Whether it’s a bloated bureaucracy, a call for term limits or irresponsible spending, Americans want a government that is responsive to the will of the people.

Since January, 2022,  four states have passed the Convention of States resolution: Wisconsin (January 25, 2022), Nebraska (January 28 2022), West Virginia (March 4, 2022) and South Carolina (March 29, 2022). The momentum and interest in Convention of States is building with active engagement in every level.

The Founding Fathers anticipated the day when government leadership might seize power and ignore the will of the people, so they included an option to call for a Convention of States in Article V of the Constitution. Article V provides for an alternate method of creating laws – Convention of States.

The process isn’t easy or simple. Once 34 states approve the resolution, a Convention of States will be held to address (1) term limits, (2) responsible spending, and (3) reduce the size of government.

Following the Convention, 38 states must ratify the laws and changes made.

The goal of Convention of States is to create the largest army of grassroots volunteers to get our nation back on the right track. Convention of States volunteers are organized, educating and informing our local communities through town halls and local rallies. They are meeting with and educating our Michigan legislators. They are making telephone calls and sending letters to their congresspeople.

They are taking action every day and making a difference.

They know the enemy. It’s called apathy and complacency.

It’s time for change.
