Ypsilanti Community Schools issued the following announcement on Aug 9.
Thank you to all the student applicants in the Washtenaw County area who submitted a Black Music Month art project.
And a big congratulations to our top three winners! Thank you to Puffer Reds for your continued support of the community.
LaNya Hood from Ypsilanti Community High School won the $5,000 scholarship as the top high school project winner. She is going to apply her scholarship money to classes at the University of Michigan.
Shaliese Draw, a 6th grader at Ypsilanti Community Middle School, won the middle school category.
Kevin Massey from Childs Elementary School in the Lincoln district won the elementary school category.
Thank you to Puffer Reds for your continued support of the community and the Ypsilanti Community Schools Foundation for helping set up the scholarship program.
