Dr. Paul Elam joins Pathways to Equity panel discussion on racial healing

Dr. Paul Elam, Chief Strategy Officer, recently participated as a panelist at the Pathways to Equity: Racial Healing and Social Determinants of Health event. The gathering took place on January 24, 2025, and was co-hosted by the Community Foundation of Greater Flint and the Greater Flint Task Force on Racial and Social Equity. These organizations aim to enhance equity and social justice in Genessee County.

The event's goal was to bring together individuals from groups dedicated to advancing racial and social equity, addressing social determinants of health, and promoting racial healing. Participants were encouraged to engage in learning opportunities and open discussions about equity while exploring collaborative solutions for creating a healthier Flint and Genessee County.

Dr. Elam brings extensive experience in discussions on equity and social justice. He holds a PhD in Family and Child Ecology, a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice and Urban Studies, and a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Michigan State University. At MPHI, he leads initiatives to mentor professionals from historically underrepresented groups with culturally responsive engagement strategies. He collaborates with various clients including governmental bodies, philanthropic organizations, universities, and nonprofits to improve the lives of underrepresented communities for a more equitable future. His expertise in youth violence prevention, crime justice, and child maltreatment is acknowledged both locally and nationally.
