City of Battle Creek issued the following announcement on July 28.
Friday, August 20, is the last day to pay city property taxes. City Hall will remain open until 5 p.m. that day. Otherwise, expect to keep current limited hours until after Labor Day (8-4 M-Th, 8-12 Fri).
Since our buildings have reopened, fees have returned to credit, debit, and electronic check payments. Electronic check payments have a $2.50 flat fee, and the fee depends on the transaction amount for credit and debit card payments. While our buildings were closed, we absorbed the fees, since you could not make payments in person.
If you have concerns or questions about our fees, contact City Treasurer Tammy Giannunzio at 269-966-3325. Visit our website, battlecreekmi.gov/onlinepay to pay many city bills, and see the fee table.
You should note that SEMCO Energy has removed their payment box from the City Hall parking lot. Please choose another way to make your SEMCO payment. We cannot accept those at City Hall any longer. If we find them in our own drop box, we will mail them back to you. This will cause a delay in your payment.
You can pay SEMCO bills in person at the Custer Party Store, 4315 W. Dickman Road, or at Walmart, 6020 B Drive North. You also can pay by phone at 800-624-2019, online, and by mail. For more information about these and other options, visit semcoenergygas.com, or call the above phone number.
