City of Ann Arbor issued the following announcement on July 29.

City of Ann Arbor is HIRING for 2 positions - CODE COMPLIANCE OFFICIAL and PLAN REVIEW OFFICIAL - in the building department. 

The CODE COMPLIANCE OFFICIAL supervises a staff of rental housing and code enforcement inspectors, overseeing the entire rental housing process and management of blighted properties. 

Qualified candidates have an Associate’s Degree or 2 years of college-level course work in engineering, architecture or a directly related field; or equivalent industry experience. 

Additional requirements include 4 years of progressively responsible experience in plans review or building inspections and code compliance; and 3 years of supervisory or lead work experience. 

Pay rate is $77,000-$89,000 depending on experience. The next open position, PLAN REVIEW OFFICIAL, is responsible for the daily functions of plan review management of external intake, third-party plan review source and internal plan review staff, overseeing development of and facilitating in-house plan review structure using the city enterprise software. 

Requirements include an Associate’s Degree or 2 years of college-level course work in engineering, architecture or a directly related field, or equivalent industry experience, and minimum 4 years of progressively responsible experience in plans review or inspections for code compliance. 3 years of supervisory or lead work experience is preferred for this role; and pay rate is $72,000-$82,000 depending on experience.
