Lake Orion Community Schools issued the following announcement on July 29.

Lake Orion Community Schools has engaged elementary students with book clubs this summer.

LOCS students enrolled from grades 1-6 and students from every elementary school are part of 17 different clubs. Students choose the club that most interested them. Clubs meet Tuesday mornings for four weeks via Zoom.

They meet weekly through July and early August to discuss and read stories.

Below is Carlee, reading on the road. She is preparing for her upcoming book club with Ms. Bohm. They are reading the Unicorn Rescue Society.

Carlee is one of 175 students participating in the Summer Book Dragons program.

Younger readers (currently in grades 1-2) read two books in each series. These students received four books to keep.

Older readers (currently in grades 3, 4 and 5) are reading 1-2 books in each series, depending on the book length.
