Career Quest Learning Center-Mt. Pleasant issued the following announcement.
Often times, people turn to career training when they are seeking a career that’s new, rewarding, and fulfilling- all of which can be obtained quickly. Career Quest Learning Centers Medical Assistant graduate Lacey E. felt like Career Quest checked all of her boxes. When asked what motivated Lacey to further her education and career, she said “I needed something that I would love, all while being able to help people.” After graduation, Lacey started her career as a Medical Assistant for an orthopedic surgeon. “I take vitals, patient history, answer the phones, do prior authorization for medications the doctor prescribes… things like that,” she says. “I also remove sutures and staples.”
Working throughout the COVID-19 pandemic in the healthcare field, Lacey says that work life changed for her a bit. “It’s tough wearing a mask 8-9 hours a day while in a clinic, we move so fast seeing so many patients a day.” Healthcare workers across the country have been faced with new, unique challenges in the workplace due to coronavirus. “Good hygiene is more important than ever- constantly washing your hands, not touching your mask, disinfecting and sanitizing everything,” says Lacey. Her advice to those looking to enter the field is to “just make sure you follow protocol, because every clinic is different when it comes to COVID-19.” Career Quest is so proud of Lacey and the many other graduates that have sacrificed so much to ensure that others are receiving proper care. Keep up the amazing work, Lacey!
