ADRIAN COLLEGE: Adrian College to viral test students, staff prior to fall semester

Usf

Adrian College issued the following announcement.

In an effort to make Adrian College as safe as possible and mitigate the potential spread of COVID-19, all students and staff will be required to receive a viral test for the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) no more than seven days before arriving to campus for the start of the fall 2020 semester.

Viral tests check respiratory samples to determine if a person has been infected with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.

Adrian College is strongly urging students to have a COVID-19 test taken before arriving to campus for the fall semester and submit it to their Magnus Health account and bring the lab results to check-in. Students may also document a 14-day isolation if they choose not to take a test.

Students who are unable to get a COVID-19 viral test before arriving to campus will be tested during check-in. The College has partnered with HELIX Diagnostics, located in the Henry Ford Medical Center in Waterford Township, for nasal swab testing on Adrian College’s campus during specific days during move-in week.

Adrian College President Jeffrey Docking said his goal for implementing viral testing is “to be one of the safest campuses in America.”

Emily Kist, the director of the AC Student Health Center, said if anyone tests positive during check-in they will be connected with the Adrian College Student Health Center and informed to self-isolate in a designated dorm room and monitor for symptoms for 14 days. The Adrian College Case Management Team will assist students during their time in isolation.

Adrian College’s Preparedness Plan explains many of the procedures put in place to keep its campus community safe and healthy. To view the Preparedness Plan, go online to adrian.edu, http://adrian.edu/campus-life/health-counseling-center/public-health/.
