City of East Grand Rapids issued the following announcement on May 12

The Department of Homeland Security has extended its deadline requiring residents to present a REAL ID-compliant document to fly in the U.S. and enter certain federal facilities under federal law to Oct. 1, 2021.

While Secretary of State offices are currently closed, you can learn more about obtaining a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or state ID at Michigan.gov/REALID.
