Bay College issued the following announcement on April 09.
On March 27, Bay College Nursing Students delivered 59 bags of personal care, hygiene items, and healthy snacks to the Salvation Army in Escanaba in order to benefit those recipients of services provided by Hope at the Inn, a faith-based, rotating, emergency homeless shelter. In addition, the students created educational sheets on general health and safety tips that were included in each bag.
This donation was a part of the nursing student’s capstone community project for their Leadership in Nursing course, instructed by Jennifer Farnsworth. “This project is an important component of the Associate Degree Nursing program and it is looked at by our accreditation body. The students at Bay must identify a need within the college, nursing program, or their community and depending on the need they identify, the students then have to work with the group to help fulfill this identified need,” states Farnsworth.
The nursing students would like to thank the community for their generous donations in making this contribution possible. They would also like to extend a special thank you to the Bay College Library, Wellspring Community Church, located in the Delta Plaza Mall, Serenity Salon of Escanaba, and Little Light of Mine in Gladstone for being designated drop off sites for collection of donations.
Bay College's nursing programs include classroom study, patient care simulation and supervised clinical practice in healthcare facilities around the region.
