State Rep. Michele Hoitenga (R-Manton) earlier this month voted in support of a new supplemental budget plan that seeks to help the state’s workers, veterans, children and families.
The House has been working on a new supplemental budget plan since Gov. Gretchen Whitmer issued several vetoes. Whitmer vetoed a total of 147 line items within a budget proposal that previously passed before the Oct. 1 constitutional deadline.
According to a release from Hoitenga’s office, the votes provide a significant step toward getting much of the vetoed funding back in place. The lawmaker believes that Whitmer will sign the plan and ease the fears of people statewide who have been impacted by the impasse.

“I hope the governor has had some time to reflect on what her vetoes mean for people as funding deadlines go by,” Hoitenga said in the release. “People in Northern Michigan and myself are hopeful for an end to this standoff. It’s time we come together as a state government and get this done.”
