Ashley T., the Michigan state winner of the 2025 National Civics Bee, will represent her state at the national finals in Washington, D.C. on November 11. The event, which starts at 10 a.m. EST, is open for public viewing and supporters are encouraged to register to watch.

The National Civics Bee brings together students from across the country who have won local and state-level competitions. Participants are sixth-, seventh-, and eighth-grade students who have shown strong interest in civic engagement and developed skills such as problem-solving and leadership during their involvement in the competition.

Ashley, now a ninth grader at Ann Arbor Huron High School, has previously participated in youth government at Clague Middle School. She credits her experience with the Civics Bee for increasing her awareness of how civics knowledge can be used to improve communities. “I enjoy civics because it helps get me connected with my community and make change,” she said.

Finalists from each state will compete for national recognition and scholarships during the event.
