As autumn arrives, organizations are exploring ways to engage employees and build stronger workplace connections. According to Gallup research, engaged employees tend to perform better, remain with their organizations longer, and experience greater overall well-being compared to less engaged colleagues.
The priorities of today's workforce have shifted beyond salary. Employees are increasingly interested in meaningful connections, positive culture, and opportunities for growth. Seasonal activities such as fall team-building events can help meet these needs by boosting morale and fostering a sense of community.
A variety of fall-themed activities are being suggested for both in-person and remote teams. Ideas include pumpkin decorating contests, autumn bonfires—both physical and virtual—Oktoberfest celebrations, recipe exchanges, workspace decorating competitions, potluck meals, apple cider tastings, nature walks or apple picking outings, DIY wreath workshops, costume contests, trivia games, community service days aligned with Giving Tuesday, and haunted escape room challenges.
These initiatives aim to create an environment where employees feel connected and valued. "When employees feel connected and engaged, they’re more productive and invested. Seasonal activities like these are more than fun – they’re an investment in culture, teamwork, and long-term success," said Linda Olejniczak from ASE.
