The Northern Michigan University men's swim and dive team secured a win in their opening weekend, finishing first at their home pool in Marquette. The Wildcats accumulated 396 points, ahead of the Huskies with 308, Panthers with 235, and Lakers with 98. NMU achieved six out of eight possible first-place finishes and took 14 out of 24 podium positions.
Jef Leroux led the team with two first-place finishes: one individually in the 100 free and another as part of the 400 free relay team. Freshman Timothee Garin had a strong start, winning the 500 free by a margin of 25 seconds and later contributing to a third-place finish in the 400 free relay.
Hudson Lowery claimed victory in the 200 fly after moving from fifth to first late in his race. In diving events, Tobie Stiles earned top spots in both the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions, while Diego Carillo finished third in the 3-meter event.
The meet began with Garin winning the 1000 free at a time of 9:31.04, leading by a significant gap. Billotte also reached the podium by finishing third. Rocheleau secured second place in the 200 backstroke.
NMU swept all four top spots in the 100 free, with Leroux finishing first at 45.19 seconds, followed closely by Khmara and LaCount tied for second, and Fulconi taking fourth place.
In other events, Metzler finished third in a close race for the 200 breaststroke. Lowery moved up several places late to take first place in his heat of the 200 fly, while Boomer posted an improved time to finish second overall.
The NMU 'A' relay team—LaCount, Leroux, Fulconi, and Khmara—won the 400 free relay with a time of 3:00.50. The NMU 'B' team completed the podium by finishing third.
Stiles started off diving events with a first-place score of 290.35 on the 1-meter board and repeated his success on the 3-meter board with a score of 305.95. Carrillo placed third on the latter event.
