A Wayne County resident recently won a $4 million top prize in the Michigan Lottery's $4,000,000 Winner instant game. The 50-year-old winner, who chose to remain anonymous, decided to try his luck after noticing that none of the top prizes had been claimed yet.

"I like playing the $30 games and saw on the prizes remaining page on MichiganLottery.com that $4,000,000 Winner still had all three top prizes remaining, so I went to the store to buy a ticket," he said. He purchased three tickets from Superior Market in Ann Arbor and discovered his win after scanning them.

"One of the tickets came back with a message to file a claim, so I knew I had to have won one of the big prizes," he explained. "The next day, once I calmed down a bit, I scanned the ticket on the Michigan Lottery app and started screaming when $4 million came up on the screen! It was unreal."

Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli congratulated him: “Checking the instant games prizes remaining page on MichiganLottery.com led this lucky player to trying a new game and scoring an incredible $4 million win! Congratulations to Michigan’s newest millionaire on his life-changing prize!”

The winner opted for a one-time lump sum payment of approximately $2.7 million. He plans to use his winnings to pay off his home, take a trip, and save the rest.

Since its launch in December 2023, players have won over $72 million with this game. More than $92 million in prizes are still available.

In 2024 alone, nearly $1.8 billion was won by players through instant games across Michigan.
