The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) and the Michigan Craft Beverage Council (MCBC) have introduced "Michigan Crafted," a new brand aimed at promoting the state's craft beverage industry. The initiative seeks to highlight Michigan as a leading destination for craft beverages, including beer, wine, mead, cider, and spirits.
Tim Boring, MCBC Chair and MDARD Director, stated that "Michigan’s craft beverage industry is one of the most dynamic and diverse in the nation." He emphasized that the new brand would enhance Michigan's reputation as a premier craft beverage location by fostering tourism, economic growth, and consumer connections to locally made products.
Businesses throughout Michigan are supporting the launch by showcasing branded merchandise in their venues. These establishments will act as ambassadors for the brand, providing visitors with direct links to Michigan's craft beverage scene.
Jenelle Jagmin, MCBC Director, noted that "Michigan Crafted promotes the state’s producers and encourages Michiganders and out-of-state visitors to experience the unique flavors and experiences offered by Michigan-made craft beverages." She described it as an invitation to explore the stories behind each product.
The launch coincides with the summer tourism season when interest in local craft beverages peaks. The campaign will include advertising, events, and social media outreach to engage audiences within Michigan this year. In 2026, efforts will expand nationally.
